Photography in the City

Beauty in the City

I had the great privilege of attending a photography course run by none other than Peter Sanders. It was a fantastic day where he ran through how he got into photography, gave us some pointers, baffled me with some technical information and then sent us all out into the city of London to take photos based around three themes:

Beauty in the City
Humour in the City
Stillness in the City

I managed to take lots of photos and was ready to make my way back to the building we were based in. As I tried to make my way through a sea of tourists milling past Big Ben, a bride and groom walked by, in full wedding attire! I couldn't believe my luck so started taking photos of them. They were gracious and kind enough to pose for some of them for me. I said congratulations and was on my way, happier than an ickle bunny to have had the opportunity to photograph such a Kodak moment. Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

I did however miss the chance to take a photo of about 15 women dressed as nuns running down the stairs at Kings Cross train station. You can't win them all though.

Attack of the Clooneys

Episode II? Meep. Though it was marginally better than the first one I am yet to be impressed by the whole Star Wars phenomenon. The acting was plain awkward in parts and C-3PO's 'comedy' was painful at best. I'd have to advice George Lucas to at least introduce more eye candy into his movies to try and spice things up a bit. Perhaps by casting George Clooney as the bounty hunter? A thousand Clooneys could certainly have turned things around.

Saying all that, I don't have a heart of stone and did nearly enjoy the following elements of the movie:

I'm going to watch Episode III at the cinema tomorrow and I predict that things are going to turn pretty nasty. I really don't trust that Senator Palpatine for a start.

Catch the pigeon

I held up heavy traffic for twenty minutes today because a stubborn Ms. Pigeon refused to vacate the piece of road directly in front of my car. What's more, her friend flew down and they started having a long chat (probably about the state of the economy or so I like to think) and for a while she disappeared under my car too. I didn't have the heart to drive off until I knew she was definitely out of the way but the other drivers behind me were not happy bunnies.

Revenge of the Phantom Clones or something

I watched my first ever Star Wars movie last night....I know, I know, it's only taken me 25 years. I wasn't overly impressed but I hear that they do get better so I'll brave the other two and then go back and watch the old ones for completeness. I did however make the following observations and am issuing the following warnings:

(Apologies to all Star Wars fans, please don't send Darth Maul around.....why was he in it for like all of three seconds??)

E. S. Posthumus

I'm so excited that I've finally found it.

I saw the Vanity Fair trailer a while back and ever since then, I've been searching high and low for the beautiful music that played in the background. Unfortunately, it wasn't on the soundtrack but yesterday, thanks to What's That Tune, I managed to find out the name.

Nara by E. S. Posthumus.

This song has stirred emotions in me that I never even thought I had. I urge you all to listen to it and all the other songs on the Unearthed album.

End emotional transmission.

Lame Jokes 'R' Us

Q: What do Kermit the Frog and Henry the Eight have in common?

A: The same middle name.

P.S. I realise my comments thingy hasn't been working for a while and y'all are just dying to write witty remarks and scathing retorts to my "frequent" blog entries. Sorry about that pals, I am working on it, by which I mean my web host is completely ignoring my requests for help and I am scouting a new web host as I type. Hang in there baby.
