Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Diamonds
I must say, when I heard a woman talk about turning her husband's ashes into diamond rings for her children on This Morning the other day I was a tad disturbed. The thought of having a loved one's remains hanging around my neck just doesn't do it for me. I can however understand how it would help someone still feel close to the deceased. That's not the only thing you can do to hang on to your loved one though. How about a coral reef or a painting using the 'cremains'? You can even send them to the Moon.
From a scientific point of view, the human ashes to diamonds equation seems pretty obvious, one of those 'why wasn't it thought of earlier' ideas. I'm still not sure about the whole thing but if it helps the grieving process, it can't be all that bad.

i think its better to recycle the deceased, (i.e. bury'em), than to burn them and turn their ashes into diamonds, because it requires a lot of heat and pressure (which obviously cant be generated without emitting a lot of burnt gases into the atmosphere.). furthermore, "they" will continue enlighten your heart with the radiance of their memories (i.e. if you really loved them.).
